Causes
for Unwanted Hair Growth
-
Heredity (Your genes determine
a lot regarding your individual hair growth.)
-
Normal physiological changes (Puberty,
pregnancy, and menopause.)
-
Malfunction of the endocrine system.
(There are many diseases that stimulate hair growth,
which may stem from conditions of the thyroid, pituitary,
or adrenal glands, or the ovaries. In addition, Cushings
disease, polycystic ovaries, and thyroid conditions
may cause excessive hair growth. Some of these disorders
must be treated by a physician in order for electrolysis
to be effective.)
-
Human intervention and topical
influences (Hair can develop pigment and length when
the follicle gets stimulated from tweezing and/or
waxing. Also, abrasive activity from casts, sunburn,
and scars from injuries can stimulate hair growth.)
-
Medication (Some common triggers
for hair growth include birth control pills, cortisone,
seizure drugs, and high blood pressure medication.)
-
Stress (For some individuals,
emotional and physical stress can stimulate the
adrenal glands and cause soft, fine body hair to
become coarse and noticeable.)
